FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Stokk
Short and honest. For more depth, see the wiki.
General
What is Stokk?
Stokk is the social network for investing: you add your investments, follow how they do and talk stocks, ETFs and crypto with your friends, including a comparison of your portfolios.
Is Stokk investment advice?
No. Stokk gives no investment advice and makes no investment recommendations. The app only shows what you and your friends are invested in, not what you should invest in. Nothing in the app is a call to buy or sell.
Is Stokk a trading platform?
No. Stokk is not a trading platform. You enter your positions yourself and follow them in the app. You do not buy or sell anything through Stokk.
When is the app coming out?
Stokk is not in the store yet. The app is coming soon to iOS and Android.
What does Stokk cost?
As of today, the app has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
Which languages does Stokk support?
Stokk comes in German, English, Spanish and French. You set the language in the settings.
Portfolio, markets and prices
Which asset classes are supported?
You can add your own positions in stocks, ETFs and crypto. You can also follow prices of indices and commodities in the markets, without owning a position.
How do I add my first investment?
In the dashboard, tap "Add" in the positions section and enter the symbol, purchase price and quantity. Your investment shows up in your positions list right away.
Where does the price data come from?
Price data comes from Yahoo Finance, with Finnhub as a fallback; crypto prices come from CoinGecko. Stokk shows current prices, which can be slightly delayed. Stokk is not a trading platform.
What are savings plans in Stokk?
Savings plans let you track regular purchases: with an execution day in the month, a history of executions and a status (active, paused, ended). Savings plans in Stokk are entries for tracking. Stokk does not place orders.
What are price alerts?
You set an alert for a symbol at a price above or below a level and get notified when the price is on that side of the alert.
Friends and privacy
How do I add friends?
Open the Friends tab and search by name. Send a request. Once it is accepted, you can see each other’s portfolios.
What does "Hide amounts" mean?
When it is on, your friends no longer see absolute euro amounts from you, neither the amount you invested nor position sizes. They still see the make-up of your portfolio in percent and your return in percent, so you can keep comparing without giving away amounts. In Stokk the feature is on by default.
Can friends see how much money I invested if I hide amounts?
No. It is protected on the server: the real amounts are replaced before they even leave our database, not hidden afterwards in the app.
What is a public account?
With a public account, you make your investment activity visible to all users: what you invested in and when, the news you liked and your posts. The amount is never visible. The Stokk team reviews every request. You can switch back to private any time, immediately.
Communities
What is the difference between public and private communities?
Anyone can find and join public communities. Private communities are only visible and accessible by invitation, and their posts do not show up in general search.
Account and security
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Settings → Delete account. You confirm by typing a confirmation text. Deleting cannot be undone. Details are on the page "Delete account" (in German).
